At a recent vigil for missing children held this past Sunday, Ronald Cummings, the father of missing Haleigh Cummings, had this to say about a couple of the estimated forty people attending. The event was one of many taking place across the country in an effort to raise awareness about those who are missing.

Ronald Cummings to Casey Anthony family: Stay away

Ronald Cummings begged the public for help to find his missing 5-year-old daughter Haleigh Cummings in a video released last week on his lawyer’s Web site.

But today he amended that message — he wants help from everyone except Cindy and George Anthony.

“The family of Ronald Cummings, father of Haleigh Cummings, wishes to make it clear that they do not want any involvement by George and Cindy Anthony in the continuing search for Haleigh Cummings,” according to a news release issued by the Kimball & Snider Law Firm, which represents Cummings.

“The Anthony’s have their own agenda, as witnessed by their recent media tour. The facts relating to the death of Calee (sic) Anthony, which resulted in the first degree murder charges against Casey Anthony, are in no way similar to Haleigh’s disappearance,” the release said.

Was he concerned The National Vigil For Hope an organization whose National Chairperson is Michelle A. Bart, a former spokesperson for the Anthony family, was an organizer of many of the events?

From the The National Vigil For Hope website there is this interesting disclosure. It is ironic that an organization wishing to raise awareness of missing children lists only 12 of them yet has over 60 links to Community Partners.

Disclosure: The National Vigil For Hope is a coalition comprised of businesses, organizations, and individuals throughout communities across the country who believe the power of prayer, hope, and awareness can help bring more positive results in finding the missing children and adults that need to come home to their families. The National Vigil For Hope is a public awareness endeavor in communities across the country; the event is hosted by volunteers and organized by a volunteer committee that own, operate, and manage businesses and organizations in the United States no funds are collected or made for the objective of bringing more awareness to those missing.

How would any collected funds be used?

Update 06-16-09: A Year Later, Caylee’s Kin Helping Others

(CBS) The grandparents of a murdered central Florida two-year old say the father of a missing northern Florida five-year-old is making a mistake by rejecting their offers to come to his aid.

“When your child’s missing, you take any bit of help that you can,” Cindy Anthony remarked to Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez Tuesday. “You take every help. You don’t turn anybody away. You can’t turn anybody away.”

In yesterday’s Tracy Press, there was an article about missing Sandra Cantu’s father, 37-year-old Daniel , passing a polygraph. If you have followed the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings, authorities have explained the person taking a test is seldom informed of the results after repeated statements by Ronald Cummings and Misty (Croslin) Cummings that they passed their polygraph tests. According to authorities, the tests will either show deception or to be inconclusive on questions asked but they aren’t pass or fail.

The Tracy Press article mentions a fund established to help the family once the child is found. Quite honestly, it is not uncommon to seek donations to help find a child, or assist the family to cover their expenses during search efforts, but how common is it to ask for financial help for the family to be used after the child is found?

“We need to take the focus off of him and put it on (Sandra),” said Gina Schnabel, a friend of Cantu’s and a volunteer in the search.

Cantu said that he felt like he was treated more like a suspect by the media than like a parent looking for his child.

“They were talking wrong,” Cantu said. “People should have the right information before they talk.”

Schnabel said that she and Cantu have set up a Chase bank account where people can donate money that will go to the family after the girl is found. She said Cantu has raised $1,500 so far. The account number is 446-091-4679, a bank employee said, and the phone number for the bank is 836-1490.

Update 04-07-09:  Family spokeswoman’s past revealed

Lisa Encarnacion, who up a few days ago was the spokeswoman for Sandra Cantu’s family, said today she stepped back from that role when police told the family about her criminal past.

Seven years ago, she said, she was convicted of felony embezzlement from the Vintage Faire Nursing & Rehab in Modesto, where she worked. She served a year in the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, the women’s jail in Modesto.

Ronald Cummings and Mistry Croslin, are scheduled to appear on the Today show at 7:30 EST this morning. They were reportedly married in a simple ceremony at the home of Cummings’ grandmother in Welaka about 4:30 p.m. yesterday though originally they were believed to be exchanging vows at the Dunns Creek Baptist Church.

There were allegations earlier in the week concerning a possible custody battle for Haleigh’s brother. Was the decision to marry an effort to present a more stable family environment or as they suggest simply something Haleigh wanted?

While thier wedding took place less than one week after he proposed, the mother of Haleigh Cummings mother allegedly has put her own nuptials on hold.

Haleigh’s maternal grandmother said her daughter, Crystal Sheffield, had postponed her wedding plans until the young girl is found.

“I feel like they’ve got something to hide,” Marie Griffis said. “Why are they getting married right now?”

Palatka Daily News

Recap: There were no revelations from Ronald or Misty nor difficult questions posed from Meredith Vieira.  Misty sat with her hands together while Ronald had his arms folded in front. The newly married couple appeared quite subdued, with Ronald repeatedly stating the focus needs to be back on Haleigh and not his personal life.

When Misty was asked about why there were inconsistencies in her story, she hesitated and replied she didn’t know. Oddly when asked why the need to marry now, Ronald  paused for a moment before saying it was what Haleigh would want.  After being asked about the alleged person dressed in black, described by his son as a possible abductor he believes the “story” originated from his ex-wife Crystal and her family.

Friday, on the Morning Show with Mike and Juliet, Geraldo Rivera, when discussing missing Haleigh Cummings, prefaced a comment with, “What typically happens in these missing white girl cases…”. No one appeared offended nor did they question why he phrased the comment that way. After all she is a missing child regardless of her race or gender and are all missing white girl cases somehow the same? If he had been commenting on missing Adji Desir and said, “missing black boy” there may have been an uproar equal to that of the recent NY Post cartoon.

Later, Geraldo was in Florida to interview her father Ronald Cummings concerning allegations he struck her in the past.

Fox News-

In a contentious, exclusive interview outside his Florida home, Ronald Cummings, the father of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, blasted new abuse allegations and told FOX News “never, ever have I ever hit my child.”

“Me and my child have an agreement. Daddy, daughter. She has been spanked on her behind the way DCF says that you can take care of disciplining your children,” Cummings told FOX News’ Geraldo Rivera.

Cummings also condemned new allegations that he hit Haleigh’s mom Crystal while she was pregnant, saying friends and family members making the accusations are ‘absolutely lying’ and threatening criminal charges against them.

Responding to sources that told Rivera Cummings had told them he was 75 percent sure who kidnapped Haleigh, the missing girl’s father said, “There is no way — I do not know who took Haleigh. If I had — if I had, uh, five percent of where Haleigh was at, I would be there now and not here.”

Are his comments racist, reckless or just Rivera?

Update 02-23-09:SATSUMA, FL

Fox News anchor Geraldo Rivera could see jail time in Putnam County if he crosses the line again.

The owners of the property where Ronald Cummings lives filed a trespassing warning against Rivera following an interview Saturday night that turned heated.

Update 03-19-09: Haleigh’s father hires attorney in wake of abuse allegations

Haleigh Cumming’s father has retained an attorney, after the mother of his two children and her attorney accused him of being abusive on national television.

The Palatka-based law firm Kimball and Snider, P.A. released a statement this afternoon saying it will be representing Ronald Cummings, 25, on a pro bono basis. The firm will coordinate Cummings’ public appearances and will also represent Cummings in a possible custody battle over Haleigh’s younger brother, Ronald Cummings Jr., 4, between Cummings and the children’s mother, Crystal Sheffield, 23.

“The mother was previously denied custody in court and allegations of abuse against Ronald were judicially dismissed,” the firm said in the statement, adding that Cummings considered the abuse allegations a “cheap shot and publicity stunt that detracts from the search for Haleigh.”

The firm will not be representing Cummings’ 17-year-old wife, Misty Croslin. Croslin was the last person to see Haleigh, who disappeared from the home Croslin shared with Cummings and his children late Feb. 9 or early Feb. 10. She and Cummings married on March 12.

On the Bill O’Reilly show, Geraldo provided this tease for his show  Geraldo at Large  to air on Saturday March 28th at 10:00 p.m. EST. He continued his verbal assault on Ron Cummings, missing Haleigh Cummings  father, calling him “scum” and offered an update on Casey Anthony referring to her as a “22-year-old slut”.
