In this article,  Pennsylvania agency didn’t know girls were missing from foster home, there is an interesting comparison between Florida and Pennsylvania. Though one of the girls was recently found, they have been missing for two months.

Pennsylvania’s child care system operates differently from Florida’s, in which the state-run Department of Children & Families deals directly with foster homes.

Each Pennsylvania county has its own foster care system; the Department of Public Welfare acts as an umbrella agency, supervising each system, Witalec said.

Witalec said the Philadelphia County agency filed a routine written report on the status of the case, then did nothing else.

Various agencies are questioning why they weren’t alerted concerning the abducted children or why an AMBER Alert wasn’t  issued. They may want to ask why the children aren’t listed at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

There are 331 missing children of all ages listed at the Florida DCFS  site in the “care” of the state. Pennsylvania’s DHS doesn’t post how many are missing in their state but maybe they don’t know.
