Haleigh Cummings, is missing and possibly endangered according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

(CNN) — A Florida court has approved the divorce of the father of Haleigh Cummings, a Florida girl who disappeared in February, and the girl’s stepmother, a key witness in the case.

Ronald Cummings, 25, cites irreconcilable differences in ending his short marriage to his 17-year-old wife, whom he married more than a month after Haleigh went missing from her father’s home in Satsuma, Florida, on February 9. Cummings has made several public pleas for information in her disappearance.

Haleigh Cummings went missing from her Satsuma, Fl. home on Feb 10, 2009. The last known person to have seen her, Misty Croslin-Cummings, denies any involvement in her disappearance. Authorities are now looking into reports of a possible sighting of Haleigh at an Abington, Ma. Walmart. One distinguishing feature on Haleigh’s face is a small brown spot near her right ear.

Hunt for missing Fla. girl leads to Cape

A nationwide search for a missing Florida girl came to Massachusetts over the weekend, when Sunshine State authorities traveled to Cape Cod to question a couple in the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings.

Investigators interviewed Timothy Croslin and his wife Saturday as they searched for clues that might help them find Haleigh, 6, who disappeared from her Satsuma, Fla., home on Feb. 9, according to Putnam County Sheriff spokesman Lt. Johnny Greenwood.

Croslin’s sister, Misty, 17, was the last person to see Haleigh. She told police she tucked the little girl into bed the night of Feb. 10 while her boyfriend, and Haleigh’s father, Ronald Cummings, 25, was away at work.

In yesterday’s Tracy Press, there was an article about missing Sandra Cantu’s father, 37-year-old Daniel , passing a polygraph. If you have followed the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings, authorities have explained the person taking a test is seldom informed of the results after repeated statements by Ronald Cummings and Misty (Croslin) Cummings that they passed their polygraph tests. According to authorities, the tests will either show deception or to be inconclusive on questions asked but they aren’t pass or fail.

The Tracy Press article mentions a fund established to help the family once the child is found. Quite honestly, it is not uncommon to seek donations to help find a child, or assist the family to cover their expenses during search efforts, but how common is it to ask for financial help for the family to be used after the child is found?

“We need to take the focus off of him and put it on (Sandra),” said Gina Schnabel, a friend of Cantu’s and a volunteer in the search.

Cantu said that he felt like he was treated more like a suspect by the media than like a parent looking for his child.

“They were talking wrong,” Cantu said. “People should have the right information before they talk.”

Schnabel said that she and Cantu have set up a Chase bank account where people can donate money that will go to the family after the girl is found. She said Cantu has raised $1,500 so far. The account number is 446-091-4679, a bank employee said, and the phone number for the bank is 836-1490.

Update 04-07-09:  Family spokeswoman’s past revealed

Lisa Encarnacion, who up a few days ago was the spokeswoman for Sandra Cantu’s family, said today she stepped back from that role when police told the family about her criminal past.

Seven years ago, she said, she was convicted of felony embezzlement from the Vintage Faire Nursing & Rehab in Modesto, where she worked. She served a year in the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, the women’s jail in Modesto.

Ronald Cummings and Mistry Croslin, are scheduled to appear on the Today show at 7:30 EST this morning. They were reportedly married in a simple ceremony at the home of Cummings’ grandmother in Welaka about 4:30 p.m. yesterday though originally they were believed to be exchanging vows at the Dunns Creek Baptist Church.

There were allegations earlier in the week concerning a possible custody battle for Haleigh’s brother. Was the decision to marry an effort to present a more stable family environment or as they suggest simply something Haleigh wanted?

While thier wedding took place less than one week after he proposed, the mother of Haleigh Cummings mother allegedly has put her own nuptials on hold.

Haleigh’s maternal grandmother said her daughter, Crystal Sheffield, had postponed her wedding plans until the young girl is found.

“I feel like they’ve got something to hide,” Marie Griffis said. “Why are they getting married right now?”

Palatka Daily News

Recap: There were no revelations from Ronald or Misty nor difficult questions posed from Meredith Vieira.  Misty sat with her hands together while Ronald had his arms folded in front. The newly married couple appeared quite subdued, with Ronald repeatedly stating the focus needs to be back on Haleigh and not his personal life.

When Misty was asked about why there were inconsistencies in her story, she hesitated and replied she didn’t know. Oddly when asked why the need to marry now, Ronald  paused for a moment before saying it was what Haleigh would want.  After being asked about the alleged person dressed in black, described by his son as a possible abductor he believes the “story” originated from his ex-wife Crystal and her family.
