There have been very little updates in the disappearance of Amber Dubois. She was last seen on February 13, 2009 and is considered by the NCMEC as Case Type: Endangered Missing.
Police have been attempting to identify a driver of a maroon or burgundy truck (originally reported as red) which was spotted on a surveillance video from the Escondido High School bus maintenance yard where she was last seen. Did the driver see anything or have any connection with her disappearance?
Police investigate possible link between assaults, missing teen
ESCONDIDO — Escondido police are investigating the possibility that a man suspected of molesting two girls in Wal-Mart stores in San Diego could be connected to the disappearance of Amber Dubois, who was last seen walking to Escondido High School more than three months ago.
The link they are trying to establish is a burgundy pickup that appeared in surveillance tapes in both cases.
In the Wal-Mart cases, which happened in two locations, a surveillance tape recorded a 25-to 30-year-old, 6-foot-tall white man who drove what appeared to be a burgundy, four-door, full-sized truck with a silver or chrome storage box in the bed. The model year is believed to be between 1998 and 2006.
The assailant molested 5-and 6-year-old girls. One molestation occurred April 1 at a Wal-Mart on College Grove Way in Oak Park and the other May 17 at a Wal-Mart on Shawline Drive in Kearny Mesa. Neither girl was seriously injured. No suspect has been arrested.
