Police in Myrtle Beach are searching for Brittanee Marie Drexel of Rochester, N.Y who was last seen on Saturday. She had gone with friends to S.C. despite her mother refusing to give her permission to go take the trip leaving apparently after telling her mother she was staying overnight at a friends house last Wednesday. Her mother learned from one of her daughters friends Saturday evening she was in Myrtle Beach.
A friend at Camp Lejune, N.C., reported her missing around 5 a.m. Sunday after learning she had not been seen, police said.
Drexel met a friend from New York and three men Friday at Club Kryptonite, according to a police report. She briefly met them again around midday Saturday on the beach, and again around 8 p.m. that night, police said.
The men said she left them to return to her traveling companions, who had a room at the Bar Harbour Hotel. Police said she never reached the hotel.
After arriving in Myrtle Beach, her mother, Dawn, is quoted as daying, “It’s not like my daughter to not call … and her clothes were still at the hotel room,” she said.
Brittanee Marie Drexel, 17,, is described as 5-feet tall, weighing approximately 103 pounds. She has brown, shoulder-length, straight hair and blue eyes.
If you have any info about Drexel, call the Myrtle Beach Police Department call (843) 918-1382.
She is not listed at the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) missing child registry nor at the NCMEC as a missing child.
Update: She is now listed as an Endangered Runaway at the NCMEC. Is it because she was in Myrtle Beach without permission or is she now considered missing because she ran away while there?
NY teen still missing after Myrtle Beach spring break
Myrtle Beach Police say they’re working with SLED and other agencies on several leads, but they aren’t speculating. NewsChannel 15 confirmed the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Department assisted Myrtle Beach in investigating one lead on Tuesday, though they wouldn’t elaborate.Cpt. David Knipes with Myrtle Beach Police Department couldn’t answer many specifics on Tuesday but said they aren’t ruling anything out.“Until you actually have a person and know they’re OK, you can’t rule anything out. You know, it could be anything from being a runaway to an abduction. We just don’t know right now,” said Knipes.

However, when he read about Drexel, who went missing April 25 during a trip to Myrtle Beach, it hit close to home.
Update 05-14-09: There is no updated information being provided by authorities. Hopefully, her disappearance won’t follow the same timeline of missing Escondido, Ca. teen, Amber Dubois, resulting in asking for assistance after four months.
Escondido police to invite FBI to review Dubois case.
ESCONDIDO – Escondido police plan to ask the FBI to review the case of missing 14-year-old Amber Dubois over the next few weeks as the investigation enters its fourth month, a spokesman said.
After meeting with the Amber’s parents Wednesday morning, police decided to invite the FBI and the nonprofit National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to review about 15 binders of documents, Lt. Craig Carter said.
“It makes sense, we have no issue with that,” Carter said. “We will reach out to both those agencies.”

The vehicle’s plate number is EJS-9543.

I know Brit. This is so weird! I hope she turns up!! 😦
I was in Myrtle Beach last week but I left on Saturday. I was staying several blocks down from where she was staying at.
I arrived in myrtle beach on the 19th of april and left april 30th. I stayed at the landmark resort on ocean blvd just a few hotels down from the bar harbour. There were some days where there were hundreds of ppl on the beach. I hope the missing girl is safe and unharmed.
I READ SEVERAL COMMENTS THAT BRITTANEE SHOULD OF KNOWN BETTER. WELL, WHEN YOUR 17 YOU DON’T HAVE THE SAME FEARS AS WHEN YOUR OLDER. SHE SURELY DIDN’T KNOW THE OUT-COME OF HER DEMISE. WHO WOULD? WE ALL, MAKE MISTAKES AND SOME ARE WORSE THAN OTHERS. AS FAR AS HER MOTHER IS CONCERNED I FEEL SHE MADE THE BEST DECISION AT THE TIME. SHE CAN’T BE JUDGED FOR SOMETHING SHE DIDN’T KNOW WAS TO HAPPEN. IF, THAT WERE THE CASE NO ONE WOULD EVER BECOME MISSING OR KILLED. WE WOULD ALL BE MIND READERS AND, KNOW OUR FUTURE. MY PREYERS GO OUT TO HER MOTHER AND FAMILY. I FEEL, REAL BAD FOR HER RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THIS IS THE WORSE THING THAT CAN HAPPEN TO A MOTHER AND FAMILY. YOU WILL BE IN MY PREYER’S. GOD BLESS YOU! SUSAN…
Today is May 4, 09. I haven’t heard any update on my news.
Anyone in upstate NY or SC, or anyone, can you please let us know, if anything is happening or anything to report. Concerned and praying for a happy outcome.

just when are these kids going to realize the inherent dangers that lie just outside their surburban sheltered lifes??? this is a very dangerous world my friends, especially for a young, attractive, naive little girl like natalie hollaway and this missing girl. i can tell you from personal experience that myrtle beach isnt the safe, quaint southeran town it used to be 50 years ago. just a few miles from the mall off of the main strip is one of the biggest drug dealing areas in the south called (THE HILL) by locals. i was stationed in mb in the 80s with the usaf, and WE were very aware of the really bad places the are right there under the radar, the places that the mb chamber of commerce wont talk about. conway just up the road is about 80% african american and has the bloods and cribs running most of the drug trade to the tourists coming to the beach. unfortunately this little girl trusted a thug and now she is dead. PEOPLE DO NOT SEND YOUR TEENAGERS TO MB ALONE, AGAIN IT ISNT THE NICE LITTLE TOWN IT WAS 30 OR 40 YEARS AGO. ITS A SIGN OF THE TIMES. PEOPLE ARE JUST PLain damn crazy and evil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First of all teejay you can not say that is was a african american that took that girl you don’t know who took her was you there? And I am a african american and I feel so bad for this mother to lose her child this way but you can’t blame anyone until they find something. SO DO NOT BLAME AFRICAN AMERICANS BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW THAT FOR SURE. SO YOU NEED TO KEEP YOUR COMMENTS TO YOURSELF AND PRAY FOR THIS GIRLS LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And to the mother of this girl I am praying for you and wishing the best outcome. And if it was afrian americans or whoever they need to be punished for what they did I am not taking up for anyone but no one can blame anyone at this time. Sorry about what is going on and I am praying for the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
first of all, Teejay Majority of serial killers are white males.
Yeah. Like this one guy killed a young star back in the 30’s the black Delilah and ted bundy manson etc killing innocent people torturing children and murdering them. I’m sorry for her loss I’m also sick of the white woman syndrome blacks and hispanics get kidnapped all the time too but it never hits the papers because they are not single white children.
If it is true that there was an argument about her shorts shortly before she was last seen, then it seems as if one of the guys believed she was advertising her sexual being and probably took advantage of her believing as many disturbed guys do, that they had a right due to the way she was dressed and maybe partying on her first exciting trip to Myrtle Beach. When she would not settle for an apology after being taken advantage of, he (the guy that agrued about the shorts) got rough and this is the guy they need to put the heat on in my opinion. He feared a rape charge that would ruin his future, and a future that needs to be ruined before he hurts others.
Every year almost my entire little town just outside of Rochester, NY packs up and goes to M.B. for spring break. Down there for the most part parents let their kids do what they want and it is not a very good area anymore. When I was a junior in High School there were numerous times my group of girlfriends were approached by creepy men trying to hit on us. We were 17 also. If she was walking the strip by herself, then it would have been very easy for someone to pull over and get her in a vehicle. Its not the fact that she went without permission from her parents, if they would have been there she probably would have the same fate. Why was she alone, they need to question her “friends” that let her walk 20 blocks by herself at night in Myrtle Beach. They are the ones that messed up.
i am so sorry to hear of this dissapearence of this beautiful young lady!!! you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers!! don’t give up hope!!
to the writer teejay why does it have to be a thug that sounds pretty racist to me i will be praying for you too because i feel sorry for you!! why also does it have to be drug related and about an african american like another race could have been involved or not even at all!!!
I watched Dateline a couple of weeks ago and it was about girls being kidnapped and drugged and forced to prostitute. It was the parents that found the girl and rescued her. The cops were not much help. Apparently this goes on alot so maybe this is something to consider. If you did not see that episode I really suggest trying to get it..It was and eye opener.
IT has been a long time and no one has seen her. Her phone is dead and she left her close behind. Any teen that runs away doest just dissaperar for a week. It is almost impossible to hide from police now a days. She has to be kid napped or sorry to but she isnt not alive
this case may go cold for awhile and be dragged out for months on end. the child should have known better not to go on her mom’s wishes. (mom’s know best.) really in away the mother of the child should have known something was not right the night her daughter asked to stay at a friends house knowingly that she wanted to on vaction. i feel bad for the child because her mother is still in rochester new york and hasnt left the area since to go and look for her duaghter. if that were my kid, id be down there day and night looking for the missing child that i help bring into the world. that child is a part of me and id be damned if i couldnt see my girl. it does have to be hard knowing that the child is more then likely dead, but hey that is what happen’s in the world today, its a
(word deleted)up place to live, but thats life. that is what she gets for going out in the big bad world at 17. who knows she might even still be alive and has just ran away, she left home, so why couldnt she just leave the united state? she could be on the run because of fear of what her family might do to her when she gets back. who knows, only god knows and i am really sorry that the family of this child has to deal with something like this, no one should. pray to st franceis. the st of lost items…Her mother was indeed looking for her in Myrtle beach she was talking to people in walmart! I saw her and my heart sank! we are all still praying for a good outcome! God bless Dawn.
There has been a body found this afternoon in Okahumpta, which is west of Leesburg , in Lake County Florida, Waiting to hear any updates on the finding. Apparently, the body has been there several days. The only description so far, has been a comment that it was not a Toddler.. Which of course leaves a lot for guessing.
I thought I had read or heard a remark about her possible going to or heading for Florida.. Ole minds can’t pin point where the info came from..
Lake deputies investigate body found in Okahumpka Investigators provide description of clothing found
OMG I am so sorry about this situation, I lived on SC and I know things are not Good in this State, and for that reason I don’t let my son to go no ware without my consent or even if he will go some were else I have to talk to an ADULT to make sure that everything will be o.k.. I WILL NOT LET MY SON OF 17 Y/O go with friends to another states because now you can see what can happen when you are not LOKKING AT YOUR KIDS!
I aplogize for what has happened to her. My prays are with the family. At that time while she was there I was staying in the Atlantic Palms Resort. Just right below bar habor. May god be with her!
I am so sorry to hear that this girl has went missing!! We are going to keep praying hard that she may turn up safe and sound. To the comment that T. MoMo made there is nothing wrong with this state! South Carolina is a good state and full of good hard working people. I have lived in South Carolina all my life. My husband is in the Army so we have traveled all over witnessing and experiencing other states. South Carolina by far has been my favorite, and most friendlyist compared to the rest of them. Myrtle Beach is a good place where all teenagers from near and far come to have fun on spring break, and senior week; which is fixing to come up here in a couple of weeks; What makes this palce hetic and madness during this time are the bad apples that come down and cause trouble. Most of the time these bad apples that come down are transplants from other states. Not saying that natives here will not get in trouble but more often than not they are transplants not knowing any of the laws and getting in trouble because they think they can get away with it. Also I have been to the club myself where she was at and I do not understand why she was there because it is an 18 and up club anyway. They should have not let her in. You are right in the fact that you should know where your kids are at, and who they are with. But then on the other hand you must trust in yourself that they have a good head on their shoulders and you were the good parent and thought them the skills to use to make sure they kept their good head. At 17 teenagers have raging hormones and think that they are superman. Sometimes different individuals take advantage of that and lure them into things they should not be getting themselves into. So to say that a state is just bad and put that on why a child is missing is just crazy. Bad seeds are Bad seeds not everyone or everything in South Carolina is bad sometimes it is the transplants that make up an area and it’s reputation.
Mother I am praying for you and your family that you get your child back safely. I have a family of 5 my husband and I and 3 sons and we go to the beach every year during senior week and I have a son graduating this year but my husband and I will be with him. But mother of the missing girl don’t feel bad for what happen just keep sending up prayers. If you have children you can do your best with them but you never know what will happen so all my prayers and best wishes go out to you and your family. May God Bless You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mother please don’t give up on your daughter she may still be out there alive. You have thousands of people praying for you and your daughters safe return. MB is nothing like it use to be I myself have a 14 year old daughter we were there one week before your daughter. I feel like the teen boy the last one to see her is very, very suspicious, why else would he live the beach at 2:00 a.m. go home to NY and hire an attorney. I believe he holds the key or knows information he is with holding. Don’t give up!!
Also while I took my daughter to MB on Spring Break, I heard other teens talking about that popular teen night club, that it had gone gangster! Was the teen boys car examined for DNA, did they do a DNA search of the hotel room? Eventually this boy will talk to a friend (mom) do what ever you can to keep this in the media!! My family will pray for you everyday!!
My thoughts and prayers are with the family of this missing girl. I am currently watching this story on Dr. Phil. Now first of all, I mean no disrespect to this girls mom, but what kind of mother has no authority on their 17 year old child. Come on America. Mom, instead of just wanting to start off blaming someone else for her disappearance, look at yourself for not paying enough attention and not knowing where your child is. It is a 15 to 17 hour drive, and this woman had no contact for that amount of time. She is a MINOR!!!! When you found out she was at the beach, after you told her she wasn’t allowed to go, why didn’t you get in your car and drive to get her. Instead of allowing your child to show you who was in charge. This shows that this girl had no respect for her mom and the mom never had any control of her child. This child ruled this house hold. She wants to place blame on the kids at the beach and get upset with them for not searching for the girl..but if she was a true parent…the girl would have never gone, or remained at MB in the first place. I would have drove down, packed her bags myself, and dragged her back to NY kicking and screaming. Not just allowed her to stay. Now do I think this guy had something to do with her disappearance. Honestly no. Look at the time frame. He is seen leaving the hotel around 8ish. Yes, he left at 2am…but come on, that is almost a 6 hour window. She never made it to her desired location a mile away. So estimated time of disappearance is between 8 and 10pm. Still alloting another 4 hours. If he had something to do with this, then don’t you think he would have left alot earlier. They where not strangers, they where friends from NY. I hope and pray for this girls safe return. I really do. I hope this family finds closure and more. But it is time to stop blaming everyone else…look at this case from all aspects, and find out what has happened to her. Again, please don’t take my comments to offense…but come on Mom…step up. And to the dad, if you knew this was going on, why didn’t you step up and make her live with you and be the parent. Take control, instead you seem like a typical father that is no longer with the mom, and it is like out of sight, out of mind. But I may be wrong…but I doubt it. God Bless.
I was in Myrtle Beach SC this weekend and was surprised to hear people in stores and restaurants that said they didn’t even know anyone was missing in Myrtle Beach. Also, I saw no billboards advertsing the missing girl and any flyers out! I am absolutely appalled.
People who blame Brittany’s mom probably aren’t raising teenagers. I just watched Dr. Phil and noticed that when asked why he let Brittany walk the mile by herself, the young man, answered by saying “Brittany was like I’m fine, I’m fine.” Then he went on to say “anyway, it was light out” then only after Dr. Phil pressed on did the young man finally say “I did offer to drive her”. THAT was a giveaway to me that the young man is not telling the whole truth. I mean really if he truly had offered wouldn’t that of been the FIRST thing he said in his answer. THink about it. He would have started by saying “I OFFERED to drive her but she declined”. He didn’t answer that way though. Instead he made his “answer” stronger only after being pressed.
I think KMorgan has a good handle on the underlying causes of this situation. Also, 20 year old Peter who drives a flashy car (see his facebook picture) is still an adolescent seeking attention and corrupting/using young confused girls to get that attention. That’s why he’s so pissed off…his reputation is ruined and people are giving him nasty looks instead of the googly eyes and admiration he used to get. I don’t think he’s otherwise involved.
Its sad to see what the little sins (selfishness & vanity) in our lives can lead to in the welfare of others.
Today, I was watching the Dr. Phil show on this case and I hope someone can look at the transcripts. The young man, Peter said at one point that Britanee left when it was dark. When her parents asked him about why he did not escort her, he said ‘Well first off, it was daylight.” If someon can get the transcripts, pleas check it out.
Well…on Dr. Phil the young man did state first off that he pleaded with her not to go on her own and that he offered to take her. Then after the parents hassling in their attempts at questioning him, he got nervous and maybe fumbled. Who wouldn’t. As far as my previous comment in regards to the mother…no I have never raised teenagers. But I am a former Deputy Clerk of Court. My main duties…where to take minutes and judgements in District Court. I also had to sit in on Juvenille cases as well doing Truency. Truency is where parents are charged bc their children miss too much school and have to appear to be held accountable for the misconduct. So trust me…I may not have raised teenagers, but I have seen my fair share of cases where the child ruled the household. Where the mom doesn’t want to be a mom, she wants to be the “cool” mom. Yeah…this young lady had her mom right where she wanted her. Again, why didn’t the mom know where her daughter was for over 15 hours. And that 15 hour drive…is none stop. So lets just say 15 to 20 hours plus that this so called mom was in no contact with her daughter and had no accountability for where her daughter was.
If you work with truant kids, why can’t you spell “truancy” correctly?
Well excuse me Mrs Spellcheck, and FYI, it’s not Truant kids….it’s the parents who are charged, so make sure you actually read.
When your child spends the night with a friend, do you call every three hours? If you do, do you call your child’s cell phone or do you call the parents of your child’s friend? Oh wait, you don’t have children…so did your mom call every three hours and check up on you when you were spending the night with a friend at 17???? I don’t think that you can hold the mom accountable for not calling within that 15 hour time period. Seriously, between 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. is 15 hours! Come on now!
Well take a look at the case now. You now see that the mom had no contact with that girl in days….DAYS! Now, would you go days without contact with your daughter. If your daughter took off and went 7 states away without your permission wouldn’t you be upset once you found out. You would have just allowed your child to stay there, no I think not.
Oh and it is a 15 hour drive from NY to NC…that is where time time span comes from……HELLO
My prayers are with you. Please don’t give up on her. If she can she will let you know where she is. She is such a pretty girl. Please God bring her home safe.
My heart goes out to the family. I have been to Myrtle Beach a 100 times and I just want to say that they should comb that palce over with a fine tooth comb because it’s a huge and busy city. I hope and pray they find her a llive and well. May the Lord be with all that are with the team in helping her b found
My prayers are with you Dawn Drexel and your family.
May God bring this girl home safely!
Has anyone heard updates on this girls disappearance? I have trying to keep up on the news but seems nothing is being mentioned? I hope and pray she is safe!
K.Morgan sounds to me like she really wants to impress some people, so that more people will think she’s right.
Because honestly, if you’ve never mothered a teen, you do not know anything about what you’d do in that situation.
This girl was depressed, maybe her mom didn’t want to put her through any more crap by dragging her away from a fun vacation and embarrassing her and all. Love can confuse things.
I know some people that saw this girl while she was in Myrtle Beach, before she went missing. For some reason, that feels eerie to me.
It’s odd how you can become engrossed in something that doesn’t affect you, but I think the fact that something like this happened has taken a toll on young people. You never think something like this can happen, but the young are not invincible.
I hope they find out what happened to this pretty girl, soon.
I may have never been a mother, but come on. I was a teenager. I have friends who have teenagers. Where I used to work I have seen first hand the situations I previously spoke of. If you really take a look at all the evidence in this situation it is really sad. This mom went days without any contact with her daughter. She asked to go to the beach and her mom told her no. So next thing you now she calls her days later and guess what, she went to the beach anyway. Do you go days without speaking to your children. She never even attempted to call her to make sure she was ok. Her daughter called her and when her mom asked where she was. I am at the beach. I would have went down, picked her up and made her come home.
K. Morgan are you slow? She didn’t talk to her for days because she was missing. And for all her mother knew Brittanee could have lied about the hotel she was staying in. I really hope she is found safe and alive.
Thoughts&Prayers go out to the family.
the MBPD will do their best to try to find her I’m sure they will/ have they seem really good
and pay to god that shes okay and comes home alive and okay
I’ve had a terrible feeling ever since I heard about this story. I feel this girl… I’ve heard her… Has anyone checked Virginia? The impression that won’t leave me is that she was is somewhere along the interstate route, possibly in the forest (there is a National Forest in Virginia). I know this sounds awful, but I think she is no longer with us… and hasn’t been. My thoughts and prayers to the family. I have three girls of my own so I can imagine what they must be going through.
We just returned from a vacation at Myrtle Beach accompanied by four 16 and 17 year olds. I saw flyers of the teen on several windows in the stores. My heart breaks for her family. Let me tell you I would NEVER allow teens to go into those so called under 21 dance clubs. We walked past one one and it was almost like a side show with a barker outside trying to coax the kids in. I know not all of the teens in there have good intentions in mind. Kids are so naive at this age as to the motives and character of others that they can quickly find themselves in and among undesirables. There is plenty of time later in life to frequent dance clubs when they are older and wiser. Be parents and keep your kids out of the dance clubs for as long as possible! While we were there we heard a news report that eight teens had been arrested under a Myrtle Beach peer for filming a porn film! Where are the parents? Please, please, keep your children safe. They are not old enough to make all the decisions. You may not be their favorite person, but in the end they will thank you.
I went to myrtle beach in june and yes its not the same as it was when my dad started taking us there …i stayed at a cheaper motel (we couldnt afford much this year ) and from what i understand and saw parents do not send your children without supervision..our vacation was almost ruined but we did get home safely. we stayed from what i understand a few motels were this young lady disappearred (polynesian resort) and it was not fit to be ..we ended up leaving and going elsewhere but it really woke me up. go to trip advisor and read the reviews and all are true ….i recently read a review on captain quarters aand the person took a picture of his bed with a large blood stain on it….these places have no security and dont care what happens just for the sake of making a dollar our children are not safe by themselves and even with there parents sometimes …my heart goes out to this mother she had the right instincts but you cant always keep them were you can see them ..as i was a rebellious teen myself and had put myself in bad situations cause i wouldnt listen its not the moms fault mine told me not to and i ran away thank god i survived but i did get in pretty bad situations just lucky i got out of them…
I check periodically to see if there has been a break in this case and am so sad to see that things are still the same.. This case has been especially heavy on my heart..I don’t know why, but maybe because the mother tried to keep her baby safe to no avail and now she probably will never see her again.. I hope that by some miracle she can find her daughter alive..and sincerely hope that this mother does not carry around any guilt that she could have done anything more to protect her child.. There are just some things that we are powerless to control… Prayers for this family!
My prayers are still with the family. But I hope that this case also is a lesson for parents of teens. KIT constantly, don’t just assume your children are safe. We have seen all to often lately where these situations are happening more and more often. It is really sad. My heart does go out to the family of this girl, dispite my views on the case and the situation. At the same time to the teens of the nation, wake up kids, it can happen to you. Listen to your parents, don’t always have to be the one to “show” them your repsonsible by bluntly not listening. Your parents don’t have rules you ruin your life, they have rules that keep you safe. You may not like them, but they are for your welfare. And my prayers are especially for the teens who have parents who just don’t care…America these families do exist. You probably see evidence of it everyday and turn a blind eye. These are the kids that are stealing, having sex at 13, getting pregnant at 14, or worse contracting STD’s that they will have to live with for the rest of their lives. It’s sad, but it happens…my prayers are with them especially! They need it. God Bless and Best wishes..I really hope this case finds closure.
Our prayers go out to the family of the missing girl.
Paul
I am so sorry, i have psychic powers hense the name. but i think the reson why she is not being found is because not enough of people are hoping and believing. SO PLEASE START HOPING WE CAN’T KEEP LETTING THIS HAPPEN(cries).
And don’t say well i hope she is NOT dead, not is the enimy word! say positive thing EX: I hope she is alive, i hope they find her, i hope she is ok. And you have to hope with ALL your hearts out there. PLEASE HELP BRING HER HOME(cries).
i’m from the area, and there are rumors going around that between the locals, it is known who did it. and that she’s in the local waterway, in peices. the credibility is unbeknownst to me though. so, it’s just a thought. the day i found out about it is actually the same day psychic girl posted. weirddd.
I have only read a few of these postings and I have never seen so many cold, heartless people. This is not about what the parents should have done, or what we as parents would do. This is about a young girl that is in serious trouble. Another thing, this person who posted on December 1, if you are hearing things then maybe instead of posting on a website you should actually say something to someone who can do something. Life is not something to be played with, it is not a joke. You all speak like this but if it were your child would you want the same words spoken to you?
To the family I pray for you and the safe return of your daughter. As parents we do the best that we can and we try to teach our children as best as we can. I will continue to pray for you and your family.
I am a teen in SC and this disappearance has been near to my heart for some reason maybe because I am a teen and understand or what. I don’t know. But I do feel that her mother is not to blame. I know that us teenagers will do what we want no matter what. I have told my parents I am staying at so-and-so’s house for the night while I really go do what I want with my friends. You can say that is awful and whatever but I am a teen and that’s what we do. Something could happen to me while I told my parents this and they would never know where I was really at, so are they to blame? No! Just like her mother is not to blame. I went to Myrtle Beach unsupervised at 17 three weeks after Brittanee did and I saw posters and everything, it kept me thinking about making good decisions while I was there but Myrtle Beach is still a very fun place and can be a family vacation spot but not if you go during spring break or senior/college week. It is one of the top 10 spring break places in the US which means one of the craziest and shouldn’t be the place you take your little ones for spring break. And to teejay, what a racist! Wow she met and thug and now she is dead? Way to have hope and encourage the family. What you said was uncalled for and I hope you never get back on here. Many people found your comments very offensive, including me. I am white and I have an African American boyfriend. You can’t sit there and say that a “thug” has anything to do with her disappearance because you do not know unless you have some info that the rest of us don’t have. And K.Morgan, if her mom was trying to be the “cool” mom do you think that her mom would have just said yes and let her go to the beach? Uh yes! And you have no idea what was going on in this mother-daughter relationship and maybe they don’t talk all of the time. I don’t talk to my but maybe about once a week, that does not mean we don’t love each other dearly or anything but that we just don’t talk everyday of the week. And you will probably call me one of those corrupt teens because I have lied to my parents and I date an African American but I am an honor student, make straight A’s, have a very stable home life, going to college next fall for engineering, I go to church, and still have a fun life :). I’m sorry but I had to say something because I have been reading about this from the day I first saw it on the news and the accusations some people have made have weighed heavy on my shoulders. I have hope for Brittanee and her family and send my heart out to them. I will continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers everyday. God Bless.

I agree with K.Morgan. It is apparent that the mother had no control of the child. I am a mother of a 19 year old, and i can say that i have never had a problem. I have seen many parents struggle with this behavior problem from their children, and it always comes down to the same thing. The child gets away with murder, because their is no discipline. People make mistakes, but as a parent the child needs to be held responsible for their actions. Dont give in, they have to learn. Most of the parents will defend their kids, even though they have to know the child has no respect for anyone. The parents blame it on ADD, when we know it is the parents letting them get away with stuff. If you dont want to be a parent. DONT HAVE KIDS.. We do to MB 2 times a year, and i have to say, flyers are not up any place we where at. Not in our hotel or any restaraunts we ate at. I believe they think she is a runaway. I hope that is the case and she contacts her family or friends..
i am deeply srry for wht has happen i hope u find her i will pray for u im am srry):
Please continue to pray for the family. Please stop pointing fingers at the mother. I had the opportunity to meet the mother at Broadway at the Beach and my heart just melted. She and her family were such nice people. My little one year old was getting busy trying to run around the store and some of the family member help me catch him. I appreciated that so much. I was not aware of the daughter situation at the time, but some how the family and friends share the new with me. I was given a picture pin of Brittanee. After leaving the family, I immediately contacted my prayer partners to pray for Brittanee and her family. Just be in agreement with me, on a speedily arrival for Brittanee to return home alive and safe. I know the police are doing the best job they can for the people and her family. I love the Myrtle Beach area. It is so beautiful down there. Everyone must visit Myrtle Beach and just keep an eye on your kids and others. Crime is everywhere, so don’t stop living your life under fear.
So Does anyone have an Update on this?
