Are you interested in some of the cases America’s Most Wanted is covering? Do you want to know the latest update? Just click on the name for more details.

Devon Russell: Smuggling drugs, weapons and illegal aliens is big business along U.S. shores. In South Florida, federal, state and local law enforcement are taking on smugglers; since 2005, more than 30 innocent men and women have died at sea near Florida’s coastline as a result of smuggling. Cops are now searching for a key player in the ring, Devon Russell.

Henry Pierre: Just days after an AMW tipster led the Royal Bahamian Police to suspected smuggler Henry Pierre, reports from the Bahamas say that the accused killer and alien smuggler was set free, but rearrested a short time later. The fugitive’s initial release came as a complete surprise to cops in Florida, as U.S. officials were working vigorously to extradite Pierre to face charges on American soil.

Rosa’s Story: Rosa is a composite of several real women, just a few of the 50,000 people a year who are smuggled into the U.S. and treated as slaves. These victims of human trafficking are forced into a variety of exploitative situations including prostitution and hard labor. The Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 was designed to protect these victims as well as to prosecute human traffickers.

Patricio Sosa: Human trafficking is an awful crime, but for some it’s big business — and the FBI says when the Cadena-Sosa family saw there was money to be made, they jumped right in. Patricio Sosa was one of the ringleaders of an operation that imported women and children from Mexico and forced them into prostitution in Florida, according to agents — and now law enforcement wants to put the brakes on this alleged trafficker.

Craig Oliver: When AMW last told you about scammer Craig Oliver, nearly a dozen tipsters recognized him as Danny Sullivan, a construction foreman in Phoenix, Ariz. But police say Oliver was able to slip away before the law enforcement dragnet scooped him up, and they need your help to track him down.

Rafael Cadena-Sosa: Like many young men, FBI agents say Rafael Cadena-Sosa went into the family business. Unfortunately, in his case that business was human trafficking and prostitution, reports the FBI. Sosa-Cadena and his brothers were allegedly part of a ring that imported women and children from Mexico and forced them into prostitution.

James Reimer: Cops in Oklahoma are looking for 40-year-old James Joseph Reimer, who they say took off with 14-year-old Deborah Kalai Fourzan; detectives believe Deborah is in danger because before they disappeared, Reimer sent text messages to Deborah soliciting sex.

Carmela Cadena: Imagine being kidnapped from your home country, held captive in the U.S., and forced to work as a prostitute. This is the fate of thousands of women and children who are smuggled into the U.S. every year — and the FBI says they’re kept in line by women like Carmen Cadena, member of a family that’s alleged to run a major human trafficking and prostitution enterprise.

Deborah Fourzan: Cops in Tecumseh, Okla. are desperately looking for leads that will help them find 14-year-old Deborah Kalai Fourzan, an Oklahoma teenager who went missing on Feb. 2, 2009 and may be in danger.

Haleigh Cummings: Police in Florida have announced that they do have a sexual predator in custody who lived just a mile from missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings. But, investigators say the man had nothing to do with the disappearance.

Adji Desir: Adji Desir, a 6-year-old developmentally disabled Florida boy, has been missing since Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009. Police need your help to bring him home to his family.

Tangena Hussain: On October 2, 2008, 24-year-old Jamrul Hussein was driving to the local mall to pick his girlfriend up. He had her daughter, Tangena Hussain, in the car at the time. On the way to the mall, Jamrul made a quick pit stop at a nearby gas station, but what happened next is a parent’s worst nightmare.

Marlon Lopez: Officials say that Marlon Iverzander Lopez has been evading the law for years. With a criminal history involving charges of drug trafficking, fraud, sexual abuse, and molestation, the FBI is looking to put Lopez where he belongs — behind bars.

Pedro Fajardo: Cops say Pedro Ulloa Fajardo visited his common-law wife on the evening of October 15, 2008 to hash out some differences that had been complicating their relationship. What cops know now is that Fajardo had no intention of mending their relationship — he intended to end it forever. Now, Fajardo is on the run and police are hot on his trail, but could use your help tracking him down.

Erica Smith Killer: It’s been six long years since 14-year-old Erica Smith was murdered in Northern Virginia — but questions still plague Erica’s family. Who is responsible for tearing their family apart, and why? And most importantly, when will they be brought to justice? Cops continue to work Erica’s case, hoping a key clue and some old-fashioned detective work may finally bring this case to an end and help Erica’s family find peace.

Many of you have probably been following the murder of 26-year-old Kenzie Marie Houk, allegedly by Jordan Anthony Brown, an 11-year-old boy. She was a mother of  two daughters, ages 4 and 7,  pregnant and his father’s fiancee. He allegedly shot her with a 20-gauge shotgun while she slept, before  he headed off to school.

PITTSBURGH—A prosecutor says an 11-year-old Pennsylvania boy charged in the shotgun slaying of his father’s pregnant girlfriend must be treated like a premeditated killer even though his age is raising questions about where and how to jail the boy.
Lawrence County District Attorney John Bongivengo says his “hands are tied” about charging Jordan Brown with criminal homicide. That’s because Pennsylvania law doesn’t permit him to file the charge in juvenile court.

While the legal system debates his fate, his age was reminiscent of two brutal murders involving young victims and their assailants. Dateline NBC two years ago ran the story about Amy Yates  a murdered child in Carrollton, Georgia.

LIFE AFTER A CHILD GETS MURDERED

On April 26, 2004, Amy was led into the woods of the mobile home park where we lived, by a 16-year-old boy that she knew and considered to be a friend. The boy told her that he wanted her to come listen to the birds with him. After entering the woods and walking far enough so that no one could see what he was going to do, he tried to rape her, and when she screamed for help he strangled her and then dumped her body further in the woods. The events that have unfolded that day seem like they could only happen in a movie, a horror movie for my family.

The abduction and murder of Maddie Clifton is unimagineable even as a plot to a movie.

Families of missing know the fear, pain

Sheila Clifton Delongis understands the devastating worry of not knowing where a child is for several days. Her daughter, Maddie Clifton, was 8 when she didn’t come home from playing outside in her Jacksonville neighborhood in November 1998. She was found a week later stuffed beneath the water bed of her neighbor, 14-year-old Joshua Phillips. He is serving a life sentence in prison.

Recently a 9-year-old Arizona boy plead guilty to negligent homicide.

In the deal with state prosecutors, two charges of premeditated murder in the death of the two men were dropped in exchange for the admission that the boy shot and killed his father’s friend.

Friday, on the Morning Show with Mike and Juliet, Geraldo Rivera, when discussing missing Haleigh Cummings, prefaced a comment with, “What typically happens in these missing white girl cases…”. No one appeared offended nor did they question why he phrased the comment that way. After all she is a missing child regardless of her race or gender and are all missing white girl cases somehow the same? If he had been commenting on missing Adji Desir and said, “missing black boy” there may have been an uproar equal to that of the recent NY Post cartoon.

Later, Geraldo was in Florida to interview her father Ronald Cummings concerning allegations he struck her in the past.

Fox News-

In a contentious, exclusive interview outside his Florida home, Ronald Cummings, the father of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, blasted new abuse allegations and told FOX News “never, ever have I ever hit my child.”

“Me and my child have an agreement. Daddy, daughter. She has been spanked on her behind the way DCF says that you can take care of disciplining your children,” Cummings told FOX News’ Geraldo Rivera.

Cummings also condemned new allegations that he hit Haleigh’s mom Crystal while she was pregnant, saying friends and family members making the accusations are ‘absolutely lying’ and threatening criminal charges against them.

Responding to sources that told Rivera Cummings had told them he was 75 percent sure who kidnapped Haleigh, the missing girl’s father said, “There is no way — I do not know who took Haleigh. If I had — if I had, uh, five percent of where Haleigh was at, I would be there now and not here.”

Are his comments racist, reckless or just Rivera?

Missing Girl’s Mom Opens Up to Geraldo

Update 02-23-09:SATSUMA, FL

Fox News anchor Geraldo Rivera could see jail time in Putnam County if he crosses the line again.

The owners of the property where Ronald Cummings lives filed a trespassing warning against Rivera following an interview Saturday night that turned heated.

Update 03-19-09: Haleigh’s father hires attorney in wake of abuse allegations

Haleigh Cumming’s father has retained an attorney, after the mother of his two children and her attorney accused him of being abusive on national television.

The Palatka-based law firm Kimball and Snider, P.A. released a statement this afternoon saying it will be representing Ronald Cummings, 25, on a pro bono basis. The firm will coordinate Cummings’ public appearances and will also represent Cummings in a possible custody battle over Haleigh’s younger brother, Ronald Cummings Jr., 4, between Cummings and the children’s mother, Crystal Sheffield, 23.

“The mother was previously denied custody in court and allegations of abuse against Ronald were judicially dismissed,” the firm said in the statement, adding that Cummings considered the abuse allegations a “cheap shot and publicity stunt that detracts from the search for Haleigh.”

The firm will not be representing Cummings’ 17-year-old wife, Misty Croslin. Croslin was the last person to see Haleigh, who disappeared from the home Croslin shared with Cummings and his children late Feb. 9 or early Feb. 10. She and Cummings married on March 12.

On the Bill O’Reilly show, Geraldo provided this tease for his show  Geraldo at Large  to air on Saturday March 28th at 10:00 p.m. EST. He continued his verbal assault on Ron Cummings, missing Haleigh Cummings  father, calling him “scum” and offered an update on Casey Anthony referring to her as a “22-year-old slut”.

Authorities in Satsuma, Florida are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings.

There is a missing child in Longwood, Florida, eight-year-old Kasey Bias.  She has been missing over a month.

Kasey was last seen on January 15, 2009.  She may be in the company of an adult male relative. He is not identified on her missing poster. Her case doesn’t seem to scream of any sense of urgency to find her as she is a reported as Case Type: Family Abduction but her posters heading is Endangered Missing.

There are 394 cases of Family Abductions listed nationwide at the NCMEC of which 27 are in Florida.

Most of us have heard of the efforts to find Adji Desir, missing from Immokalee, Fl, or Sean Goldman whose mother fled with him to Brazil. He is now the center of a Hague dispute between the US and Brazil.  However few have heard of these missing children.

In yesterday’s press conference, police announced rewards of $16,000  $20,000 for clues leading to finding missing  Haleigh Cummings.

At a press conference later in the day with her father, Ronald Cummings, there was an announcement of the Haleigh Cummings Donation Fund, which has been opened with Bank of America, by Watts Funeral Home in San Mateo,Fl.

In smaller communities throughout America, funeral directors often have strong ties, having assisted grieving families for generations. However, does it seem inappropriate for them to open the account?

Putnam County Business Establishes ‘Haleigh Fund’

A San Mateo funeral home has established a Bank of America account to help the family of Haleigh Cummings and is asking for donations.

“Ronald has been out of work, keeping vigil, waiting for Haliegh to come home,” Jamie Watts with Watts Funeral Home said Thursday. “There’s finances being incurred and the community wants to help.”

You can drop off a donation at any Bank of America branch and online. The “Haleigh Cummings Fund” is account number 8980 2673 7912.

Watts’ Funeral Home is also selling Haleigh buttons and t-shirts and will donate all of that money to the Haleigh Fund.

You can purchase a shirt or button from Watts at 720 Highway 17 South in San Mateo.

Update 06-03-09: Haleigh center moves to Baker County

First white, then purple, now white again, the Satsuma “Haleighbug” building on U.S. 17, named for missing child Haleigh Cummings, stands vacant – at least in Putnam County.

Due to seizures, Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh’s mother, can no longer drive from her home in Baker Coun-ty, Kim Picazio, Sheffield’s lawyer, said.

“It’s about the mother and the missing child, so we just decided to move it to her,” Picazio said.

The Haleighbug Foundation became a registered nonprofit organization in early May, and will now be run out of Baker County on the family’s hay farm.
