Have you been following the case of the child who has been missing in Kansas for 9 years and only recently reported to authorities? He was born Irvin Groeninger III in 1987 and adopted at an early age after being placed in foster care. He apparently now goes by the name Adam Joseph Herrman. Even though he has been identified, he is not listed at the NCMEC as a missing child possibly because he is now 21-years-old.

Long-missing boy is subject of search

On Saturday, an attorney for Adam’s adoptive parents said that he ran away about nine years ago, that they didn’t report it and that they feel “horribly guilty” for not doing so.

“And they’ve been feeling that guilt for nine years,” Wichita attorney Warner Eisenbise said.

Eisenbise said Adam had psychological problems, was difficult to control and had run away repeatedly.

“They assumed that he was somewhere — either a homeless person or back with members of his family,” Eisenbise said. “They assumed that he was OK.”

There are 22 Endangered Missingchildren listed at the NCMEC who are between the ages of 11-12 years of age. There are no Endangered Runaways listed in that age group. Most of the 48 missing children listed missing between the ages of 11-12 years old have been missing mutliple years;victims of family abductions. Some of the disappearances have been left unresolved.

Jaliek Rainwalker went missing when he was 12 from his foster family under circumstances described by some as suspicious.

Sabrina Aisenberg became missing from her residence sometime during the early morning hours of November 24, 1997. She remains missing.

Sabrina Fair Allen was abducted by her non-custodial mother, Dara Marie Llorens. An FBI UFAP warrant was issued for her on 5/10/02.

Diamond and Tionda Bradley were last seen on July 6th in the vicinity of 3526 South Lake Park Avenue in Chicago.

Rachelle and Raie Jordan were abducted by their non-custodial mother, Marie Jordan.  A FBI International Parental Kidnapping warrant was issued for the abductor on March 22, 2000. They are believed to be in Mauritius, an island off the coast of Africa.

Haleigh Culwell is considered Endangered Missing even though she is with her biological mother. Haleigh and her mother, Kimberly Whitton, were last seen on June 21, 2007.

Mark Degner and Bryan Hayes went missing in Jacksonville, Fl on Feb 10, 2005. They walked away from Paxon Middle School never to be seen by family and friends again.

These are some of the reported missing children. What is bothersome is how  could anyone  believe a missing 11-12 year-old child could be ok?

“They assumed that he was somewhere — either a homeless person or back with members of his family,” Eisenbise said. “They assumed that he was OK.”

Note: Relatives say missing boy was abused According to the article, the abuse was seldom reported.
