Another violent abduction has resulted in an AMBER Alert being issued in South Carolina. According to information posted on South Carolina’s State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) web site, the suspect, DAVID DIETZ, is armed and wearing a black shirt with “Police” on both sleeves and the back.

WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – West Columbia police have issued an AMBER Alert for an incident that took place around 11pm Saturday night on North Lucas Street.

Details are limited, but officials with the State Law Enforcement Division say they are looking for 7-month-old Allim David Dietz and 29-year-old Eva Arce-Perez.


The AMBER Alert was cancelled in South Carolina and a Levi Call (Georgia AMBER Alert) has been issued but if you go to Georgia.gov no Alert bulletins are active. David Dietz is believed to be holding three hostages in a Georgia Hotel in a standoff with Police.

Update 01-05-09 W. Columbia PD: AMBER Alert canceled in SC

MADISON, GA (WIS) – Officials with the Georgia State Patrol say a hostage situation in Madison, Georgia is related to the AMBER Alert issued out of West Columbia.

The official with the Georgia State Patrol said the hostage situation is taking place at a Red Roof Inn.


Update 01-05-09 Infant safe as standoff ends at Georgia motel

MADISON, GA (WIS) – A 13-hour hostage stand-off involving a former South Carolina police officer has ended peacefully at a Georgia motel.

An FBI spokesman says David Dietz gave up Monday morning. He had been holed up in a second-floor room with his estranged wife, a baby and a 17-year-old. Dietz surrendered to police with the baby in his arms.
