THE CHILD IS BELIEVES TO BE WITH THE SUSPECT. SHE MAY BE IN DANGER AND BECAUSE OF HER AGE AND THE SUSPECTS HISTORY THE CASE IS BEING INVESTIGATED AS A KIDNAPPING. THE SUSPECT STOLE THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. THEY MAY BE TRAVELING TO MEXICO.
Deputies said Stephen Alarid might be traveling to New Mexico by way of Las Vegas in a 1998 Toyota Camry with a Nevada Professional Firefighter license plate with the number 0839. Alarid is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has tattoos of a snake on a stake and a swimming dolphin on his left arm. On his right arm, he has a “USMC” Marine bulldog tattoo. He was last seen wearing a blue Indian Springs firefighter sweatshirt, blue shorts and gray shoes

The Nye County Sheriff’s office says the six-month old baby boy kidnapped by his father, has been safely returned to his mother.
Update 11-19-08 Confusion Over Amber Alert
COLORADO SPRINGS – It’s a national program in place to help save the lives of children. But is everyone on the same page when it comes to issuing an Amber Alert? On the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website, an Amber Alert was underway Wednesday for Kanyon Nicely of Pagosa Springs.
But the Colorado Bureau of Investigation has not issued any active alerts. Authorities in southern Colorado say an official Amber Alert was never issued. “An Amber Alert is a way for us to pass information on to the community about an abduction of a child that we believe is in immediate or eminent danger,” says Lt. David Whitlock with the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Update 11-21-08 Amber Alert Cancelled After 6-Year-Old Girl Found in Austin
An amber alert for 6-year-old, Jewel Klein was called off this afternoon after police located the mother and child in East Austin.
