The AMBER Alert for two missing Lemoore, Ca. children was canceled yesterday after they were found unharmed.
ALAMEDA — The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert this morning, asking the public to be on the lookout for a Kings County man who allegedly stabbed his wife and abducted their two children.
Police in Lemoore say Jose Barraza Orellana, 36, fled with his two children after stabbing their mother, Roxana Arevalo, multiple times around 10:45 a.m. Thursday. She reportedly is hospitalized in critical condition.
There are currently 647 reported missing children listed at the NCMEC as victims of Case Type: Family Abduction. Last year there were 598. It is estimated there are 203,900 children reported annually meeting this criteria.
Some of the missing were victims of family abductions involving attacks or murders.
In August of 2006, the Texas Department Public Safety issued an Amber Alert for Danielle Jimenez after the child was abducted and the mother was fatally stabbed in Pasadena Texas. The suspect is 38-year old Leandro Jimenez.
Edwin Sanches Gonzalez was allegedly abducted by his father Jorge Sanchez-Aguilera from Siler City, North Carolina. On October 1, 2006, Sanchez-Aguilera and accomplices allegedly entered the child’s home while armed with handguns, bound adult occupants, and fled with the child.
Jessica Vargas Biatriz is the 4-year-old victim of a violent family abduction from Sanford, Fl. On November 4th, Authorities believe 21-year-old Leticia Beatrice-Martinez and several men went to an apartment in Sanford to try to retrieve Martinez’s 4-year old daughter Jessica from the child’s father. One person died while several others were stabbed.
