When a pedophile abducts a child in the U.S.  it is thought to be a crime of opportunity. In the case of the missing girl in Portugal there is one different theory among many.

Portuguese police reportedly  are now working on the assumption that Madeleine McCann was abducted ‘to order’ by an international pedophile network, after narrowing the focus of their six-day investigation.

Similar to the disappearance in the U.S. last year of Trenton Duckett, or the alleged abduction of Bryan Dossantos-Gomes, the search has scaled back much to everyone’s dismay. The parents will remain under suspicion to some but police have confirmed that family members and friends had been interviewed and are not. Inevitably the burden will fall on their shoulders to keep her disappearance in the public domain.

According to the Daily Mail:

  • Messages for the McCanns can be sent to mccannfamily@markwarner.co.uk
  • The Crimestoppers number for those calling from Portugal is 0044 1883 731 336 or information can be passed direct to the Portuguese police on 00 351 282 405 400.

Further appeals for her safe return:

Representatives of Everton Football Club have joined the appeals for the safe return of three year-old Madeleine McCann, who was abducted from a Portuguese holiday resort eight days ago.Club captain, Phil Neville, manager David Moyes and Portuguese internationals, Nuno Valente and Manuel Fernandes have all made public appeals for information on the whereabouts of the Leicestershire girl, a picture of whom in her Everton home shirt was released to the media today.

Note: She remains missing however interest in her abduction and safe return remains strong.  The website setup to help disseminate information Bring Madeleine Home is reported to have had over 40 million hits with as many as 25 million in one day.
