Ticket to Illinois

Omaha police were asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 15-year-old, who they said, on Wednesday may have been seen in Chicago. Authorities said Jennifer Pedersen was last seen when a relative put her on a Greyhound bus at 9:30 p.m. Monday July 24th. The bus was going from Omaha to Appleton, Wis.

She was found August 6th in Ft Wayne, Indiana. Police said they believe the 15-year-old made it as far as Chicago, and then disappeared with a boy from Des Moines.

In accordance with Illinois state law, NO tickets will be sold to unaccompanied minor children under the age of 17 for interstate or intrastate travel from locations within the state of Illinois.

Does the Illinois legislature believe it to be unsafe to travel in Illinois alone if you are under 17? Should llinois allow unaccompanied minors to travel through or into their state if the ticket was purchased out of state?
